Colorado Springs, Aug. 12, 2024 - KRCC, the southern Colorado public radio station operated by Colorado Public Radio, announced today the hiring of a new local host of “Morning Edition.” Kendra Carr joins KRCC and CPR from Interlochen Public Radio, and listeners in southern Colorado can expect to start hearing her in the coming weeks.
“I'm really excited for Kendra to join the KRCC team," said KRCC managing editor Andrea Chalfin. "She will be a strong companion for our listeners, bringing you news from NPR, KRCC and CPR every weekday morning."
Carr arrives in Colorado Springs from northern Michigan, where she hosted “All Things Considered” for Interlochen Public Radio. She also produced and hosted a limited series, “Our Global Neighborhood” for the station, in which she interviewed residents who moved to northern Michigan from across the globe, and the podcast “Stories That Heal,” following the creative process at community workshops where participants create music inspired by their personal challenges.
“News happens locally, and Colorado is such a beautiful place containing a variety of stories that I look forward to sharing,” said Carr. “I am honored to have the opportunity to raise up Southern Colorado voices.”
Carr is a graduate of Cottey College and an active member of P.E.O. International. Before transitioning to public radio, she served as a social worker and worked in commercial radio.
NPR’s “Morning Edition” is the most listened-to news radio program in the country, airing on KRCC weekdays from 4-9 a.m. Throughout the show, which features reporting from around the world, local hosts share stories and information with listeners.
